Quand Pompliano a contacté ses supérieurs, dont Drew Boller, Vice-président aux Finances, et Jill Hazelbaker, Vice-président à la Communication, pour leur signaler cette activité malhonnête, il a été licencié. En plus, la plainte estime que « Snapchat a embauché monsieur Pompliano […] dans l’objectif abominable d’obtenir des informations confidentielles et protégées de Facebook, […] en sachant que l’entreprise violait la confidentialité et les accords qu’il avait signé avec Facebook. »
C’est aussi pour cette raison que Pompliano a porté plainte contre Snap, qui aurait détruit son image et sa réputation professionnelle.
