«Twitter has also grown exponentially in the years since the library started its collection. That year, 2010, about half a billion tweets were posted every two weeks. In November, that many were sent each day. The messages are now longer: The company recently doubled its limit for tweets to 280 from 140 characters. Such complications have plagued public access to the archive, too, which is limited while the library works to find a cost-effective and sustainable way to open the archive to the public».

Rien de plus facile que d’accéder à L’Aurore du 13 janvier 1898 avec le célèbre « J’accuse » d’Emile Zola en Une. On peut revisiter l’époque du Front populaire à travers les articles du Populaire, de l’Humanité ou du Figaro, lire les reportages d’Albert Londres comme ils ont été publiés dans Le Petit Parisien.
Les usagers de Gallica, surnommés les « Gallicanautes », ont été directement impliqués dans la conception du nouveau site. Ils ont pu notamment tester la nouvelle version pendant plusieurs mois sur la plateforme Gallica Labs. Leurs suggestions ont été prises en considération pour améliorer certaines fonctionnalités, assure la Bnf.
