“Doctors and nurses at the hospital have been campaigning for the hospital to drop the name since it was first introduced in 2015, following a $75 million donation from Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, a pediatrician who used to work at the hospital. Over the years, hospital staff have expressed concern that the hospital is associated with Facebook and all of its problems and controversies—including, but not limited to, those related to privacy, unethical research, the dissemination of misinformation, hate speech, and disinformation.”

Et si Facebook n’était qu’un malentendu…

The ability to be « present » anywhere will also help us address some of the biggest social issues of our day — like ballooning housing costs and inequality of opportunity by geography. Today, many people feel like they have to move to cities because that’s where the jobs are. But there isn’t enough housing in many cities, so housing costs are skyrocketing while quality of living is decreasing. Imagine if you could live anywhere you chose and access any job anywhere else. If we deliver on what we’re building, this should be much closer to reality by 2030.”

David Plouffe est aussi respecté que craint. On dit de lui qu’il fut à l’origine de l’organisation militante qui mena Obama à la victoire en 2008. La campagne numérisée ? C’était lui. Il est désormais dans les plus hautes sphères de l’intrigante fondation Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative.

Bien connu du grand public, plutôt populaire – malgré des polémiques sur ses pratiques fiscales et la manière dont Facebook gère les données personnelles de ses utilisateurs –, Mark Zuckerberg aurait-il l’envie d’être candidat, et l’étoffe pour ? Avec une certaine discrétion, il a en tout cas profité de ses vœux du Nouvel An pour faire une annonce qui a fait disparaître l’un de ses plus importants handicaps de candidat potentiel.
Athée revendiqué, M. Zuckerberg a répondu à un utilisateur qui l’interrogeait qu’il avait (re) trouvé la foi : « J’ai été élevé dans la religion juive, puis j’ai traversé une période de questionnement. Aujourd’hui, je crois que la religion est une chose très importante. » Une bonne nouvelle pour les Américains qui aimeraient le voir devenir président des Etats-Unis : plus que tout autre sujet, l’athéisme est le plus grand handicap que peut porter un candidat, notent toutes les études d’opinion dans ce pays depuis des années.
