“Lorsque notre confrère lui demande ce qu’il reproche à Google Maps, il répond : « c’est assez simple, si vous dézoomez un petit peu (les cartes sont souvent faites pour les aires urbaines) et que vous regardez le paysage de manière générale […] on a compté que 92 % de la superficie du territoire qui est de la même couleur […] Il n’y a pas de données, c’est juste du coloriage. Ces cartes ont invisibilisé la richesse de notre territoire pour se concentrer sur des enjeux commerciaux ». Sébastien Soriano parle d’une « économie de l’attention, comme les réseaux sociaux », pour ensuite la monétiser vis-à-vis de commerces que vous allez ensuite pouvoir visiter. « Avec Cartes IGN, il est possible de connaître le type de culture d’un champ, les essences d’une forêt ou la composition d’une plage (sable ou galets) », explique l’Institut.”

The visualizations were generated from Mapbox Traffic data. We collect anonymous data about how users interact with the map to help developers build better location based applications. Location telemetry is critical to improving the map. We use the data to discover missing roads, determine turn restrictions, build speed profiles, and improve OpenStreetMap.”

Genomic epidemiology of novel coronavirus

“This phylogeny shows evolutionary relationships of hCoV-19 (or SARS-CoV-2) viruses from the ongoing novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. This phylogeny shows an initial emergence in Wuhan, China, in Nov-Dec 2019 followed by sustained human-to-human transmission leading to sampled infections. Although the genetic relationships among sampled viruses are quite clear, there is considerable uncertainty surrounding estimates of transmission dates and in reconstruction of geographic spread. Please be aware that specific inferred transmission patterns are only a hypothesis.”
